Aside from the spread of data outlined below, what will be immediately obvious is that the sizeable variation in the levels of spending has persisted. North Lincolnshire spent just 21.3% of their total allocation (!), with Croydon spending 156%. In total, the underspend returned to the DWP comes to £8,583,516 – higher than the £7,235,868 returned last year – money which could otherwise be put to good use helping those affected by a whole range of reforms to housing benefit.
